I really feel very inspired by Britain's industrial past and present and the drama and beauty of heavy industry and its impact on the landscape. Although I come from a farming background I love the scale of these large sites. I have visited several times to each of the places I have been working on:- Port Talbot in South Wales and Redcar Steel works in Tyneside and in the summer I walked along the Thames Estuary Footpath to get as close as I could to not only the Thames and Tilbury Docks but the new London Gateway where massive new docks are working. Having spent most of my adult life connected to the Oil Industry I was really interested to see the old Oil Rig Brent Delta being decommissioned in South Shields. I hope to continue to catch these sites and many more and add to the patchwork of industry and landscape. I also was lucky enough to go to Skye and spend time on a residency there and was completely caught up in the dramatic winter weather and beauty of the Isle and its landscape.
